M.V.P. 1-to-1 Mentoring Initiative

M.V.P. Initiative Information

Uplift Mentoring, in partnership with Shawnee Public Schools, will launch a 1-to-1 Mentoring Program, known as the M.V.P. Initiative, on Wednesday, October 2nd. The Program will take place on odd Wednesdays of the month from 7:55-8:30 at Shawnee Middle School. The Initiative will pair Shawnee High School Student-Athletes with incoming 6th-grade students at Shawnee Middle School. All High School Students who will be participating as mentors through the program have completed 6 hours of Mentor Leadership Development Training, a 1-hour Mentor Orientation, and have passed a Mentor Evaluation Assessment. Uplift Mentoring staff and trained volunteers will also be on-site at Shawnee Middle School to supervise all activity time. The purpose of the M.V.P. Mentoring Initiative will be to connect High School Mentors with 6th graders who could benefit from a mentoring relationship and provide opportunities for mentors and mentees to grow as individuals, set personal goals, and become stronger leaders.

If you have additional questions about the M.V.P. Initiative, please feel free to contact Uplift Mentoring at 405.802.8318 or email us at mentor@upliftmentoring.org
